Notts County: “A great honour for us” - 8th September 2011

“It’s an incredible honour”. The words of Neal Bishop, Notts County’s captain ahead of this evening’s momentous occasion in Turin. All eyes will be on Juventus Stadium, ready to look on in amazement at the superb new structure and enjoy the spectacular opening ceremony. The Magpies’ skipper will also have a crucial part to play in the show: presenting a black and white shirt to the Bianconeri’s Alessandro Del Piero, in a symbolic remake of the famous exchange made in 1903.
“I’ve only been a professional footballer for a few years. Before, I played on Sunday mornings with friends and it’s incredible to think that I’ll be on the same pitch as Del Piero. Playing against Juve is something that I never thought would happen. It’s the opportunity of a lifetime for us at Notts County. Juve are one of the most important clubs in the world and I could run through all the extraordinary players who have made them what they are, from Zidane, to Nedved and Del Piero. I always watched them every Sunday on TV. Everyone on this planet knows about Juventus, they know what the club represents. It’s a huge, huge honour for us to be invited to play here. We’ve already seen the new stadium and it’s truly fantastic.”
