arge version of Effigy sitting on a stack of books Light bulb and gears

(Scholar or Ideas Gal)

In all honesty? Never a scholar; eager to learn, experiment, create - yes, but nothing drew me to a scholarly agenda although in my time I haven't done too badly. My mother called me 'chytra' which translates into 'cunning' but not meant nastily, it merely denoted a quick wit, quick mind, ability to quickly adapt, solve and then put all that into promoting what I wanted to do! Conforming to accepted 'norms' would never suit me!

The dictionary pairs cunning with deceit but also throws in some other synonyms and taking out the negative aspects you get from :

"Cunning people are clever at planning something so that they get what they want, especially by tricking other people, or things that are cleverly made for a particular purpose"

"Cunning people are clever at planning something so that they achieve what they want, especially by using things and knowledge that are cleverly made for a particular purpose" - much better

Other descriptors : artful backdoor calculating conniving conspiratorial crafty devious disingenuous guile scheme sleight of hand sneaky trick underhand wily

I'd keep : artful (arty) backdoor (you can't always find things through the front door and I worked backstage) calculating (in a fiscal sense as well as problem-solving) conspiratorial (a little conspiracy never harms) crafty (very crafty in the artistic sense - hands on, I was a knitting supremo) devious (yes, on occasions to achieve what was necessary) guile (lovely word of course I developed guile!) scheme (organisational flair) sleight of hand (I made a hookah out of an old lamp, cardboard tube and lots of glitter) sneaky (it's a way of life, especially with some choice individuals I've met and had to deal with) wily (that's what my mother meant I think!) - believe me as a future prop-maker I needed to be all those.

Ho ho ho - and that has definitely stood me in good stead for the accusations levied at me for being 'outspoken' and 'not suffering fools gladly' - someone actually put that in a reference they gave me - thanks JJ!
